MELTON AIRFIELD

This a new facility acquired by The Club and is ideally suited to Helicopters, Jets and Large Scale Models which our site at Whissendine restricts. Melton has a concrete runway. Operating times however are restricted and will be published here soon.

2.  Radio Controlled Glider Slope Soaring (at Burrough Hill)

MDMC members are free to fly at Burrough Hill at any time  but please observe the rules for flying at this site.

3.  Indoor Flying (at The Asfordby Amateurs Sports Hall)

Indoor flying is held at the Asfordby Amateurs Football Club on Sunday Nights from 7pm. Bring your Foamies, Shockies, Electric Helis and your scratch built flying machines. Experience the thrill of nearly crashing into the walls and ceilings. Then if you survive that go up against the rest of the members in a fly to the death combat (OPTIONAL) and not recommended although quite funny at times. Oh, and don't forget to bring some spare props, parts and good old Superglue.

4.  Flight Simulators and Socialising (at the MDMC Clubroom)

Wednesday, 8pm onwards (winter months and when adverse weather conditions prevent  R/C flying).

Model Flight and Full Size Aircraft Simulators are in operation. Also an opportunity for relaxed chatting with fellow members about our favourite hobby!.

Just to make it as real as we can, a digital projector and roll down screen are used to display the images from the Model Flight Simulator. The Full Size Simulator uses 3 computer monitors, joysticks or control yoke, rudder pedals and vibration feedback . Both simulators have proved to be very popular with members, either when watching or flying.

5.  Slot Cars (at the MDMC Clubroom)

Juniors
Winter period Wed 6-8pm.
Summer period Wed 6-8pm.

Seniors
Thursdays 8pm onwards. Regular competitions at club level and also competitions against other clubs from our area.

The track is a custom built 4 lane circuit covering an area of over 270 sq ft. It is fully computerised enabling precise control of race starts, recording of lap times and final positions of cars and drivers at the end of a race.

Wheelchair access is provided via a purpose built ramp and side entrance door to the clubroom.
